VLOMO2012 - Day 13 - Fresh Water is Scarce

It's easy to forget how scarce *fresh* water is here, but Padre is a barrier island and so there is nothing but salt water in the ocean, lagoon and in the coastal wetlands. The lagoon is said to be the 3rd highest saline content in the world for an open body of water (avg depth is only 3 feet).

So the local birds and cats know that they can often find water dripping from an RV hose.

We stopped by for a little dinner and music at our favorite place in Port Isabel.  The guitar player sounded like Gordon Lightfoot.

I was looking at the camera and noticing the way the fans looked overhead in an ice cream parlor that Alicia and I stopped at to get her a fix for a chocolate jones. I liked the fan movement and so took a quickie. Here it is.

VLOMO2012 - Day 6 - Best Hamburger in Texas!

We were looking for lunch and found a great little place called Will & Jacks Burger Shack and Beer Garden and found *THE BEST* burgers we seen on this trip and then some. The people were super friendly and the food was excellent. Wonderful garden setting. Great vibes and music. We are talking the kind of place that should get a five star rating from "A Hamburger Today". Check them out on 413 E. Maxan Street.in Port Isabel, Texas.
